Working from my studio in Liverpool I create unique artworks on cutting boards. I wanted to find a way to incorporate art into everyday life – paintings on a wall can seem boring to many people. With my boards, food preparation in the kitchen is so much more fun and colorful.

Each board takes several days to complete, with many steps involved in the process. It’s definitely a messy business! The floor in my studio is absolutely COVERED in resin – I always change into my ‘resin shoes’ so that my regular ones don’t get destroyed!

My work is inspired by landscapes that I have seen on my travels – most particularly the frozen landscape of Reykjavik and the swirling rapids of Niagara Falls. Mountain climbing is one of my favorite things to do, so I get a lot of inspiration from the epic views at a mountain’s summit.

I am a self-employed independent artist. It’s definitely hard work – and a lot of work! – to keep your own business ticking over daily, but I love the challenge. I sell my work online and in small independent shops. One of my big goals is for a large retailer to stock my boards – watch this space!

Designer Adam Sandenholt about project: “With this lamp of Sandenholt you can change daily your own messages, be creative ! This lamp is made of recordable black board material and has a diameter of 40 cm. Chalk holder attached to a chain mounted in the center of the lamp. The chalk is supplied to the light and can be easily attached with a magnet.”

Product designer from Saint Petersburg Yaroslav Misonzhnikov is no stranger to the international design circuit, having previously made appearances at the Stockholm Furniture Fair, IMM Cologne and even Salone del Mobile.

Ugol for Imenno-design – table lamp. Plain form and performance is combined with unique mode of setting it up on a table, by the way already received a patent. All you need is a table angle and board of a standard thickness. A normal working table is usually from 1 to 2,5 cm thick. The lamp is putting on the angle and rests inclined by it’s weight, then the angle between lamp and the table depends on the thickness of the table itself. Ugol means “corner” In Russian language. The object is projected for recently founded by the designer himself Saint-Petersburg producer Imenno-design.

Nordurmyrin is a meat cutting and serving board. It draws its name from a neighbourhood in the old east of Reykjavik. Its street names are named after renowned characters in the old icelandic sagas: Landnama, Laxdaela and Njala. These are examples of the street names: Audargata, Gudrunargata, Gunnarsbraut and Skarphedinsgata. When meat is cut on the board the blood juices rush down the streets. It refers to the conflicts that arose in the societies of the second and third generations of Icelandic settlers.
